Visiting Scotland

I can’t believe we won’t have the pleasure of Kevin’s company again this year.  We only met a few years ago when he and Gill brought my elderly sister Joan to visit me in Scotland.

When they visited, Kev put up towel rails for me.  One was in a narrow gap between kitchen cupboards.  It was too narrow to squeeze in an electric drill and suspended from the worktop, so Kev had to lie on his back to remove the broken original and screw in the new one upside down.  It was a real labour of love, especially as he was doing exercises for his back at the time.

I’m also very grateful to Kev for being a regular visitor at Joan’s doing the crossword with her to keep her brain working and keep her company.  Another of Kev’s thoughtful kindnesses to others.

When my big granddaughters came for their Thursday visit, I knew they’d enjoy Gill’s crafts, but not that we’d have laughed so much as we did at Kev’s jokes.

Such happy memories and such a sad loss.
